Mending The Gods

First and foremost, please note that I'm doing this for fun, and as inspiration for the Nine Kingdom Series. These short stories have not been edited, and I am about as close to an editor as the pooch sitting at my feet.

While I want to keep this postitve I'm not against feedback. If you don't wish to leave a comment, my email is authorkinzierose (AT) gmail (Dot) com

Below is the intro to this short story series, I will try to keep future posts between 2k and 4k.

“Having the power to give life, comes with the responsibility of taking it away.” –The Creator
 ***********

Where it is we come from, whomever it was that created us, they made some aspects of our lives clear, while others they left in the dark.

For many years, my brothers and sisters fought among each other to determine who was going to lead the creatures we created, and for many years the creatures we had created suffered in the hands of spoiled heathens with an abundance of power.

War raged on in Kada, as we plotted death, war, and revenge. It wasn't until we were thrown into the lives we so freely discard that we understood the chaos of our actions.

The day started as any other had, the past hundred years, I awoke with a rage pitted deep in my thoughts, seeing only revenge in my thoughts, but as I stood streaming orders and threats at my most trusted advisers sitting around the stone table in my dining hall, my world faded from view.

When my eyes adjusted to my new surroundings, my jaw dropped. Many thoughts ran through my mind, as I stood under an overgrown stone arch way, I know I had seen before.

Before had time to think about it, the first of my siblings stood before me. As she took in her surroundings, I knew it was not she who had sent us here, for she was just as lost as I was. Her mouth opened, but before she could say anything, three more of my siblings appeared in a flash of light, followed by the remaining six.

The eleven of us stood in a circle, studying each other’s faces. It became obvious that none of us were responsible for bringing the others here.

Kato, my sister, was the first to speak. “Well now,” she said beginning to take a step into the center of the ring we had formed. “Who was it, who brought us into Kada?”

A voice answered, but it wasn't any of us. “Kato, don’t be so quick to blame.”

Her voice was tranquil, drawing in all of our attention, just as it had the first time we had heard it.
She continued, “Shame. That is what all of you should be feeling right now, though it is plain to see that shame and guilt are the farthest feelings from your hearts. This anger that has overtaken each of you, this passion to lead, has ruined you. You have become self-obsessed, thinking of nothing, nor no one else.” Though her voice came from no one place in particular, I would have sworn she was standing before me.

“I have but one question, what is it you are going to lead, who is it that is going to follow you, when you have sent each and every one of them into battle to kill one another, in your honor?”

I could feel the overwhelming need to defend myself, in this. The excuses of why it was their fault, and not mine, lied on the tip of my tongue, but I dared not to let them escape.”

“While you’ve all been safely in your homes moving figures across a map, people here in Kada have been at war, the death tolls rising daily. While you've all been consumed by this flaming desire to lead the people, those who remain are miserable, and those who have been consumed by the fire have been left hanging, their souls unable to find peace.”

The pit I had in my stomach this morning, ached, and my breathing slowed.

“When I created you, when I created this place, I believed each and every one of you. I believed that you would each embrace what it was that made you different from your siblings, and that when that happened you would all fall into the places that fulfilled your needs. This thought, this belief, it has failed. A world needs more than one God or Goddess to survive. One God, or Goddess cannot do and control everything as it needs to be handled. You must all work together for this world to thrive, for without this world you have no meaning, and you are not needed. “
For the first time in my life a feeling other than rage, crept over me. For the first time in my life I was thinking of someone other than myself.

“As of right now, this very moment, each of you are in a trial of life and death.”

I looked up for the first time since our creator had begun talking, I was not alone. This caught the attention of my siblings as well, and we once again studied the faces of those across from us.

“I have turned back the hands of time, as only I can do. As of now, you are in the middle of a war you have created. Your fate, as well as the fate of the creations of Kada, are in your hands. In this trial you will have to find out your meaning, your true place in this world.”

Her tone remained unwavering, there was not one ounce of emotion, and there wasn’t a single doubt in my mind on how serious this was to her.

“When you find your place, and gained the experience need to fully grasp the importance of that rule in this world, will you be returned to yours. Now I have learned my mistake, and will not everything up to chance.  As of now, you are mortal, the right to your powers, and abilities must be earned. To earn them, you must learn who these people are, you must help these people, and the eleven of you must learn to work together when the time comes.”

Fear, true fear, unlike anything I had ever felt before, stuck me like pins and needles. I was nothing without my powers, nothing without my abilities to control. This was not happening, this couldn’t be happening.

“For the sake of a lesson that needs to be learned, you will not remember having been the Gods that caused this chaos. Think of this as a second chance, something I do not often give. Remember the words I have spoken, and the opportunity I have gave. Believe in yourself, believe in your sisters and brothers. There is greatness in each of you, a unique piece of my own soul.”

Her voice faded, as the faces around me grew distant. I didn’t know where I would be when my eyes opened, but I did know that my life had a whole new meaning, I just didn’t know what it was yet.

Well Here We Go!

Last night, after the weird dream of looking for a purple and yellow lizard that was really a prince...yeah I blame being 7 months pregnant, don't judge me, I dreamed of an Elf-Fairy character, who was sent into the forest, to become one with her spirit creature.

Now, I don't remember everything from the dream, but when I woke up I instantly thought of the second kingdom, Kada. I think I will use this set up, to get an inside look at the tradition, and ways of the Elf-Fairies!

Here is the board I will be pinning on :) and watch from the blog posts labled #IXKingdomsIIHOW

Help!

HELP! This week I'll be getting some rough outlines on the kingdoms, I have idea's and ways that I've been playing with for awhile now, but I've decided it is time to put them out there in black and white!

Where should I start? Which one interest you the most? The First Kingdom isn't an option though, I haven't quite been told the whole story there yet, and I'm not sure the direction that realm will take.

Take a look at the live pinterest widgets that can be found on each page!

So which is it?
Laleettee- Sorry this one's not up for grabs just yet!
Kada- a kingdom of warriors and the elite, who strive for perfection and to be on top?
Arbadose- The kingdom of hell?
Silvis- a realm of nothing but forests, and forest creatures and beings?
Lunana- the kingdom of the moon?
Perierat- A lonely city, where those who belong there wish to remain alone, and those who do not belong end up lost, never to be found?
Ignotus- An dark and unknown kingdom, filled with creatures of your worst nightmares, and a kingdom that no one knows who created, or why...
Oceanus- the kingdom of the sea?
Mesura- a kingdom everyone and anyone resides in.
